A beautiful 19th century English Victorian writing box (or writing slope), crafted in richly grained wood and adorned with delicate mother of pearl inlay. The hinged lid opens to reveal compartments lined in elegant debossed dark blue leather, finished with a gilded floral border. The interior features fitted sections for writing instruments and a charming period glass inkwell, enhancing both its functionality and display appeal.
The bottom is lined with burlap, typical of the period. Condition is commensurate with age, showing light wear and minor imperfections that speak to generations of use — adding authentic character to this sophisticated desk accessory.
