Victor Gabriel Gilbert was a celebrated French painter renowned for his Parisian street scenes, floral markets, and elegant genre compositions. He exhibited regularly at the Paris Salon, receiving numerous medals and honors, and his works are held in collections worldwide. While best known for bustling market views, Gilbert also created tender figure studies that capture the refined sensibility of Belle Époque art. His work, The Lower Market, Paris sold for $542,500 at Christie’s New York in 2008. In recent years, the average sale price has hovered around $4,800, indicating consistent collector demand.
