A splendid antique French jardinière, crafted in the late 19th century with exquisite marquetry panels featuring a geometric quatrefoil pattern in contrasting woods. The serpentine form is elegantly accented by delicate brass beading and mounted with ornate cast bronze handles on each side. A pierced brass gallery surrounds the top, adding a refined finishing touch.
Inside sits the original zinc liner, designed to protect the wood when displaying fresh flowers or plants — a hallmark of authentic period craftsmanship.
Perfect for use as a centerpiece on a dining table, a grand library or console accent, or simply as a luxurious decorative object in any sophisticated interior.
Dimensions: 16"L x 11"W x 7"H x 5"D.
Condition: Bubbling to the veneer and small areas of missing beading. Liner is not water-tight. Beautiful warm patina with minor age-related wear to the wood and marquetry, typical light oxidation to the liner — all consistent with the piece’s history.
